We just wrapped up another great week in kindergarten! I think they are beginning to get used to the longer day without naps! I have had a few fall asleep!!!! We had the opportunity to attend all of our afternoon activities including art, music, pe, computer lab, and library. I think they really enjoyed this time out of the classroom.
We have won the award for the best kindergarten line up several times this week. This is an award Ms. Johnson gives to the best kindergarten line after recess. Each class can win this award everyday. Ms. Johnson is great about reinforcing positive behaviors!
We started working on the letter "C" and the hard "C" sound heard in cat, cake, car, caterpillar! We have also learned several color word songs, days of the week, months of the year, and rhyming songs. I believe this is a great, fun way for children to learn! I hope to wrap up C on wednesday and begin our next letter/sound. I will send home a list of the terms I use when teaching the way to write our letters and numbers. This will help when working with your child at home!
Math this week including shapes, calendar time, and postitional words. Positional words include the concept of up, down, above, below, around, beside, etc. They are all catching on and having fun with the positional words.
Kennedy, Blaire, Raga, and Vaishali have been our Queen's of the day this week. We have enjoyed learning more about them and learning to spell their names. I look forward to the others day to be king/queen!
