Another great week!

We just wrapped up another great week in kindergarten! I think they are beginning to get used to the longer day without naps! I have had a few fall asleep!!!! We had the opportunity to attend all of our afternoon activities including art, music, pe, computer lab, and library. I think they really enjoyed this time out of the classroom.

We have won the award for the best kindergarten line up several times this week. This is an award Ms. Johnson gives to the best kindergarten line after recess. Each class can win this award everyday. Ms. Johnson is great about reinforcing positive behaviors!

We started working on the letter "C" and the hard "C" sound heard in cat, cake, car, caterpillar! We have also learned several color word songs, days of the week, months of the year, and rhyming songs. I believe this is a great, fun way for children to learn! I hope to wrap up C on wednesday and begin our next letter/sound. I will send home a list of the terms I use when teaching the way to write our letters and numbers. This will help when working with your child at home!

Math this week including shapes, calendar time, and postitional words. Positional words include the concept of up, down, above, below, around, beside, etc. They are all catching on and having fun with the positional words.

Kennedy, Blaire, Raga, and Vaishali have been our Queen's of the day this week. We have enjoyed learning more about them and learning to spell their names. I look forward to the others day to be king/queen!

Great start to a new year!

What a great first day! I am so glad that I had the opportunity to meet everyone today and look forward to getting to know you all better! Please feel free to contact with with comments, questions, concerns, etc. I realized that my email did not print on the yellow paper for some reason. I am sending a note home tomorrow with it...sheffield.duke@lrsd.org.

I really enjoyed putting names with all of your faces today. We got off to a great start with out morning routine and took several tours of the school, bathroom, cafeteria, etc. They were hungry at 9! We worked on our routines and got to know a little about one another today. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!!!!

Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!

We have our official class list and I could not be more excited! I sent postcards in the mail yesterday! I have met a few of our classmates in the past couple of weeks and I just know this is going to be a great year! We have a total of 18 students, but plan to get two more before school starts or right after. Below is the official list!

6 Days and Counting

I am so excited about the first day of school and my first post on our blog! One week from today, we will have finished our first day of school. We just received our class lists today and I just finished addressing them to each student. I already know we have a great class:) I hope to use this blog as a way for everyone to keep up with everything that is going on in our classroom. Well that would take up a lot of space, but I will highlight the things going on! I hope to post pictures, completed projects, important dates, reminders, announcements, etc. This will not be the only way to find out information, but something fun to help keep everyone up to date as we learn and grow together. I will update as much as possible (probably weekly).
